Here’s a rather extraordinary article on the inspirational founder of La Raza, Jose Vasconcelos. His book, La Raza Cosmica, foresaw a mixed race arising in Latin America. Wow, not all that difficult to prognosticate that one you might say, especially as it was already well under way when Vasconcelos wrote in 1924. Yes, but here’s where it gets messy for the anti-American left and Mexican nationalists who seize on that germ of an idea but fail to read the book. Vasconcelos expected his “cosmic race” to be dominated by Spaniard blood, i.e., the blue-blood Mexicans from Spain. It would be achieved during a period he calls “the age of aesthetics,” in which average Mexican types, i.e., non-Spaniards, would voluntarily stop procreating for the good of “la raza.” Sounds whacked, right? Well, it’s so whacked that Vasconcelos is highly honored in Mexico despite having collaborated with actual German Nazis during WWII as a propagandist and fellow fascist ideologue, and the likes of John McCain speak at the National Council of La Raza, which takes it’s name from Vasconcelos’ book, as documented on the NCLR website. This is almost hilarious if it weren’t so awful and true. Easy to verify the following article, just read La Raza Cosmica, which is free online or at Amazon. Life magazine even documented Vasconcelos was a Nazi fellow-traveler in 1940.
